King James, D-Wade, Rio, Jesus Shuttlesworth?

The Miami Heat and the Brooklyn Nets could be revolutionizing the jersey game this upcoming NBA season. The NBA would have the Heat and Nets both wear these nickname jerseys during their four games against each other.

Some nicknames are more obvious than others; one example would be LeBron James wearing King James one the back of his jersey. Unfortunately for people like Shane Battier not everyone has a cool nickname. Battier at first opted to wear “Batman” on his jersey but due to copyright laws he will wear “Shaneo” if this comes in to fruition.

Not everyone is on board with this idea of nickname jerseys though. Phoenix Suns point guard Kendall Marshall had this to say on twitter,

“The nickname makes it more about the individual,” Kendall Marshall of the Phoenix Suns wrote on Twitter. “It’s still a team sport. Represent your team, your family, and go out there and play.”

What do you think about the nickname jerseys? Good idea or bad idea?
