For your Drug Abuse tee, who considers those brands as drugs? You, the average person, a specific demographic?
The brands on the tee aren’t all necessarily drugs, but they are all utensils to help you abuse them. You need Swishers to smoke. You need a Sprite to sip lean & you need Jolly Ranchers to give it that extra kick. But the people who are hip to these things get it. It could be an 18 year old kid or a 30 year old man-if you know, you know!
Did you listen to a lot of UGK? Did that lead to creating the Trillest jersey?
OF COURSE! Probably my favorite rap duo of all time, & yes their music birthed inspiration in the jersey at a time when it seems like everyone is raping our Texas culture. I felt it was only right. It doesn’t get any Triller than Texas-the place that birthed Trill… We are the Trillest & Houston is the Trillesttown!
Oukast. UGK. A$AP Mob. Diplomats. Ying Yang Twins. Hot Boy$. Big Tymers. Who’s in the Trill Series and who wins?
UGK, Outkast, Hot Boys, Big Tymers, & most definitely Dipset [comes out on top]! I’m a down South cat but I f*cks with Dipset TOUGH! In my eyes one of best Rap group/label in history. That Dipset movement changed my life haha.
For the Blow, Paid in Full, and Belly tees, why did you go with a full print tee that covers the whole shirt? Was is it about those movies that inspired you to make a piece for them?
We wanted to try something different then what we usually did. It was our time actually doing an all over print but I’m happy people f*cked with it. The reaction to em was CRAZY! The movies I chose are all some of my all time favorites. Watching the struggle and the come up happen before your eyes is a beautiful thing and all of these movies have some aspect of that.
What makes you wake up everyday and pushes you to do what you do everyday?
I love this sh*t honestly. I love creating. I’ve been designing stuff since middle school back when Miskeen was hot. I was painting t-shirts, customizing Air Force Ones & sewing bandannas on to dudes to hoodies & Dickies outfits. But as they say love what you do & you’ll never work a day in your life.
What’s next for StayAv8ted?
You’ll see us expanding the variety of products we offer, some sick collabs in store, and doing what we do now just on a larger scale & hopefully global domination haha.
