Get to know the kid from Atlanta.
In Atlanta, they’re making all kinds of music. Future is a trap rapper that soulfully croons to his heart’s content when he hears the right instrumental, 2 Chainz has been rapping over just about everything with a tempo for the past 2 years, adding his own southern flavor to everything, Outkast is on a massive tour, bringing their funky anthems all over the country, and Young Thug sounds like each song is an audible translation of his current drug of choice. And somehow, Mike Will Made It has a hand in all their recent discographies.
Raury, aka King Raury, doesn’t even vaguely sound like anything being produced from the region, and “Sunshine”, his latest song, which he created in anticipation of his senior prom–yeah, because he’s 17 years old and 17-year-olds go to prom–strays even farther from the familiar sounds of his hometown than his introductory track, “God’s Whisper”. Listen to the track, which opens up with a moody ballad, and ends in a lyrical whirlpool, and its worth every second.
