Carmelo Anthony, New York Knicks, 62, NBA, BobcatsThough the New York Knicks have Phil Jackson as the president and can offer Carmelo Anthony the most money, he’s made it clear that he wants to win now.  There are two teams that give him that opportunity and according to sources, Anthony is leaning towards leaving.

Anthony reportedly met with Knicks officials on Friday night and the conversation didn’t do much to convince him to stay.  According to sources, there remains too many uncertainties as to how quickly Jackson can turn the Knicks into a championship contender.  It’s well known that the Knicks don’t have much wiggle room until 2015 when Amare Stoudemire and Andrea Bargnani’s contracts come off the books.

According to Yahoo Sports Anthony is getting closer to a decision.

As re-signing with the Knicks continues to fade as his priority, Chicago and Houston have emerged as the clear frontrunners to acquire Anthony, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

Chicago and Houston front-office executives are working diligently on contingencies to clear the space to sign Anthony outright – or engage sign-and-trade scenarios with New York, sources said.

Though Carmelo wants to stay in New York his desire to win now may very well over power that.  Going to the Chicago Bulls gives him the chance to team with Derrick Rose and a great big man in Joakim Noah.  If he joins the Rockets he can form his own “Big 3” with James Harden and Dwight Howard.

He should go to the Warriors if he really wants to “win now”. If they pull in Kevin Love and Carmello its a wrap.
