Can you make sculptures out of paint? No, but that’s the beauty of art isn’t it? Cassandra Warner and Jeremy Floto are the duo that make up Floto+Warner Studio. These stunning photos of paint splashes frozen in time give the effect of sculptures magically suspended in air. Here’s the trick, the photos were shot at a speed of 1/3500th of a second with careful consideration not to reveal the origin of where the paint was coming from. The result is a mesmerizing effect that appears digital. The producers emphatically stress that Photoshop was NOT used in the production.
Here’s what they had to say, “Colourant is a series of events that pass you by as an imperceptible flash. A fleeting moment, that blocks and obscures the landscape, a momentary graffiti of air and space. Creating shapes of nature not experienced by the human eye, these short-lived anomalies are frozen for us to view at 3500th of a second. Transforming the non-discernible and ephemeral to the eternal. The essence of photography—immortalize the transitory.”
Please know all the paint used in this series is water based and non toxic. Please enjoy the pieces below and check out more on their website.
