Johnny Football throws up the bird to the critics
In what seems to be a wacky but interesting starting Quarterback battle in Cleveland, Johnny Manziel always comes up with ways to end up in the limelight. But this time, he’s giving critics and fans a little more to talk about with his play on the field……as well as his antics. During the Browns, 24-23 loss to the Washington Redskins, Johnny Football decided to give Redskins players the “bird” heading into his team huddle after completing a pass while scrambling outside the pocket. The 2012 Heisman trophy winner completed 7 out of 16 passes for 65 yards. One of his signature moments in his appearance was clever 8 yard shovel pass to Dion Lewis that led to a touchdown.
“I get words exchange with me throughout the entirety of the game, every game week-after-week. I should’ve been smarter, it’s an Monday Night Football game and the cameras would probably be on me and I just need to be smart about that.”
Those are the words Manziel chose to use to discuss how he felt about what he did. With a slight expression of regret on his face, you can tell that the Texas A&M icon knew this can possibly play a major role of deciding who will be under the gun, come Week 1 for the Cleveland Browns. You can be very certain that Commissioner Roger Goodell will be hitting the rookie sensation with a fine for this obscene gesture. Manziel has two more preseason games left to stand out and run away with the starting QB position as the Browns will host the St. Louis Rams on August 23 and Chicago Bears on August 28. Let’s hope Drake is in his ear reminding his OVO counterpart that it’s time to turn it up from 0-100 real quick before it’s too little and too late.
