Frank’s dad says Global Grind defamed him
Russell Simmons‘ website, Global Grind, reportedly published an article in which they referred to the “Pyramids” singer’s dad, Calvin Cooksey, as a “deadbeat father”. Despite not being a part of Frank Ocean‘s life since the Grammy Award-winning singer was 5 years of age, Cooksey took immense offense to the statement, and has filed a $142 million lawsuit against Simmons, claiming the astronomical sum is representative of the future income he anticipates he’ll be losing because of the shot–he’s a singer and an entertainer.
Nobody from GG or Russell Simmons’ office has made an official statement yet, and Ocean has not commented.
For the record, Cooksey’s reasoning as to why he was absent the majority of Ocean’s life: Ocean’s “Money grubbing mother” moved, and hid his son from him.
