According to Derfuss; he was walking out of the library when he heard what he knew was a gunshot. He turned to see the gunman firing at other students.  At this point he ran and escaped to the safety of his car.  It wasn’t until he returned home and went through the contents of his book bag that he an his roomate realized what had happened.  The books that Derfuss had checked out from the library minutes before had apparently stopped the bullet that was fired directly at him from hitting him.  As you can see he did not take the incident lightly and felt truly blessed to be the beneficiary of what was a truly a miraculous event.

We will keep you updated with new developments as they arise.

Spencer went to FSU at the same time as Myron May, and has friends who knew him, they have said that he was a caring and joyous person. You have to wonder what makes someone do this type of thing –
