When will it end?
A 12-year old boy was shot twice in the torso by Cleveland police officers on a playground Saturday afternoon after police thought he was “reaching for a gun on his waistband” when they asked him to put his arms up.
The boy was at the Crudell Recreation Center in Cleveland Saturday when witnesses called authorities to the scene for what they thought was a young man walking around, waving a gun. The toy gun, pictured above, is designed to look like a semi-automatic weapon, but is 100% fake.
According to an ABC report, the 911 call came from a woman at the recreation center who indicated that the gun “may not have been real” but “it’s scaring people.”
After being taken to MetroHealth Medical Center for surgery Saturday evening, the boy died.
We’ll have more details as soon as they become available.
