Bill Cosby’s TV Son, Malcom-Jamal Warner, Speaks Out Amidst Allegations

Theo Huxtable has empathy for Cosby and alleged victims.

By now, everyone who isn’t living under a rock is a aware of the slew of rape allegations levied against comedic icon Bill Cosby. Several of his contemporaries have voiced their opinions on the subject, including Phylicia Rashad, who played Claire Huxtable on “The Cosby Show”, as well as Keshia Knight Pulliam, who played the role of Rudy. Now, another of Cosby’s TV children has come forth, Malcolm-Jamal Warner.

Having starred as Theo Huxtable from 1984-1992 on the famed program, Warner has a very close relationship with Cosby considering that the character was based on Cosby’s son Ennis, who was tragically murdered in 1997. While speaking with Billboard, Warner remained neutral when it came to passing judgement but did say that it is painful to watch his mentor face these allegations and just as difficult to hear any woman speak on sexual assault, whether the claims are true or not.

“The Bill Cosby I know has been great to me and great for a lot of people. What he’s done for comedy and television has been legendary and history-making.
‘What he’s done for the black community and education has been invaluable. That’s the Bill Cosby I know.”

Though some have spoken in defense of Cosby, others have implied guilt. Such as “Growing Pains” actor Alan Thicke, father of Robin Thicke for those keep tabs, who also was a producer on Cosby’s short-lived variety show “Cos”, in the 70s. In a recent interview, Thicke says, “There is no doubt in my mind Bill Cosby was a bad boy.” He was quick to clarify that he never saw any of the alleged acts, but the statement does speak volumes.
