John Legend and Miguel are teaming up to bring you a yet-to-be-titled “musical romantic drama,” according to Variety.
John Legend’s film company Get Lifted, Furst Films and IM Global will be heading the production and filming is speculated to start in Philadelphia in September. According to the Variety article Miguel’s character will be “a former one-hit wonder who regains his love for music when he is hired to coach an aspiring singer for her audition on a singing competition show.” Directing the movie will be Nabil Elderkin making his directorial debut, with a screenplay written by Taylor Cohen. John Legend was excited to cast Miguel, “He’s a major talent and being able to cast Miguel in the male lead puts us in the position to really build an incredible film with strong musical elements. We look forward to working with this dream team we’ve assembled to deliver something special,” he said. With both these R&B talents working together, the feature film is definitely going to carry musical weight and quality.
