Check out this dope collection of photographs at the MCNY spanning from the 70’s to the 90’s
Compiled by Janette Beckman, Joe Conzo, and Martha Cooper, the Hip Hop Revolution: Photographs will be on display at the MCNY from April 1st to September 13th. Consisting of more than 80 photographs taken between 1977 and 1990 documents Hip Hop from its origins to its culmination into the mainstream culture. Various elements incorporated into the series include rapping, djing, and breakdancing. The photographs showcase the experiences of each of the three photographers during theses seminal years of Hip Hop culture featuring notable figure such as Afrika Bambaataa , Kool Herc, Cold Crush Brothers, Rock Steady Crew, Run DMC, and the Beastie Boys.
