Every year, it seems like Lebron James is in the MVP talks, and deservedly so. After leaving Cleveland back in 2010, James found success in Miami teaming up with Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh, allowing him to capture two MVP awards, two NBA Championships and two Finals MVP awards in a 4-year span. He’d achieved what he sought when he took his talents to South Beach, and last summer, James announced that he’d be returning to the franchise that chose him with the #1 overall pick back in 2003. His return to Cleveland didn’t get off to an enjoyable start–the Cavs lost the home season opener to the Knicks, and began the season with a record of 19-20–but those days are merely a memory. The Cavaliers now hold a record of 51-27 and clinched the number two seed in the Eastern Conference. The Lebron James factor does exist, and both Cleveland and Miami now know how it feels to lose their best player. Can LeBron bring home a title to his home state of Ohio? The journey begins a week from today.
