Last night, Stephen Curry and his Golden State Warriors fended off a persistent Indiana Pacers team to win their 23rd consecutive game to open up this season. That’s right, they are now 23-0, and seemingly infallible. Against one of the toughest defensive teams in the league last night, they put up 44 points in the 1st quarter. It’s video game-like.
Naturally, the Warriors’ historic start has everyone comparing them to the Michael Jordan-led Bulls team that won 72 games. The Warriors are currently on pace to top that and become, statistically, the best regular season team in NBA history, but ESPN The Mag did a little prodding and found out that Stephen Curry has more on his mind than just his team being the best.
Is going down as the GOAT in your mind’s eye, or do you just go in conceding that title due to the presence of one Michael Jordan?
It’s a high mountain to climb, but I’m pretty motivated to take on the challenge. Whatever that means, however you got on that mountain, why not try to climb it? And do it in your own way.

Yeah. Why else would I be playing? You want to be the best you can be. And if the best you can be is better than him, then why not? That’s good motivation.
Talk about setting the bar high. If anything, it looks like Curry will be taking after MJ in the awards category. He’s already a shoo-in for league MVP this year, and it’s not even Christmas. Remember, he also won the award last year.
