Rick Ross Opens Up About His Time In Jail & Moving Forward

Rick Ross stopped by The Real on his promotional run for Black Market to chat with the ladies about how his brief stint in jail helped shape the vibe of the new album.

The episode, which airs tomorrow [Friday, December 11] has “Renzel” seated comfortably on the couch alongside hosts Jeannie Mai, Adrienne Bailon, Loni Love and Tamara Mowry-Housley.
Jeannie Mai: “Well this year has had a lot of ups with the house and the engagement. And there’s also been a lot of downs because there was a dark time alone in jail for you.”
Rick Ross: “Right.”
Jeannie: “So I just want to know from a man who seems so celebratory. How did this experience shape your new album Black Market?”
Rick Ross: “You know I just… I told myself that I would take this time alone and really spend it with myself. Something that I never really did. And the music that came from it, I feel really speaks volumes. Um you know, I was just so direct. I opened up in so many different ways you know when you go from you know flying several million miles a year to you know when everything just stopped. You really get to sit back and realize the impact you have on others.”
Loni Love: “Wow.”
Adrienne Bailon: “Wow.”
Rick Ross: “Not just myself but you know so many people that depended on me and you know I felt I let down even though I was in the situation I felt was beyond my control. And you know we will put behind us and move forward but it was most definitely a learning experience that I didn’t let break me.”
The Real featuring Rick Ross airs tomorrow [Friday, December 10] on Fox.
