Though he released his long delayed album The Gold Album: 18th Dynasty in 2015 to meager sales and mixed reviews, while also unveiling a mixtape, Fuk Wat They Talkin Bout, which flew under the radar, Tyga was a fixture on headlines. Whether it be his on again off again relationship with Kylie Jenner, baby mama drama with Blac Chyna, there was never a dull moment for the California rapper this year.
Tyga recently sat down with Yahoo and gave his thoughts on his career, while dodging any questions pertaining to Kylie. One of the bigger takeaways from the interview was his take on his own music.
Even though so many people are doing music, I still feel like what I do is not comparable. It can’t be duplicated. When you start looking at all the other people, that’s you losing your faith in what you’re supposed to do.
Everything that I’ve done to this point doesn’t even matter. When I hear ‘Rack City,’ it doesn’t even matter. I’m only doing this to sit with the gods. There’s no other way I see it for myself.
With the sound of things, it seems that Tyga might be gearing up for music to be the most talked about aspect of his life in 2016.
