DeMarcus Cousins has spent a large part of his NBA career fighting his supposed “bad boy” image, which has lingered with him since his days as John Wall’s co-star on the Kentucky Wildcats in 2010. Still, Cousins has stayed out of trouble since being in the NBA, and last night, thanks to a mighty bit of refrain, it appears his file will stay clean.

During a game against the Oklahoma City Thunder, which the Kings lost in regulation 131-116, DMC and Thunder center Steven Adams got tangled under the hoop after a missed basket. Though Adams didn’t appear to be deliberately preventing Cousins from getting out in transition–he even had his hands up in the air while Cousins tried to wrestle his foot from Adams’ inadvertent grasp–the Kings star quickly got aggravated, and cocked his right arm extremely high in the air, as if he were about to level Adams with a massive punch. Thankfully for everyone involved, Cousins thought twice about it, and let his arm fall limply while referees ran over to separate them.
