The man was no stranger to taking gun selfies, and in fact, he’d spent a chunk of that fateful day taking them, routinely emptying his clip before each round of selfies, and reloading it when he was finished. Unfortunately, before one set of his selfie shoot, he’d unknowingly left one of the bullets in the gun. His girlfriend, who was with him when he accidentally shot himself, partook in the day’s selfie activities as well.

Skagit County Sheriff’s Office Chief of Patrol, Chad Clarke, said the death was being investigated as accidental.

This isn’t the first time in recent memory a man’s life has been taken due to a dangerous selfie. In September of last year, a Texas teenager shot himself in the face trying to take a picture of himself posing with the loaded weapon, and despite his uncle’s best efforts, didn’t live to tell the tale.
