Tray Walker, the Ravens cornerback who was tragically killed in a bike crash on March 18, was finally laid to rest this Saturday [March 26]. The 23-year-old rookie was honored with a custom casket, designed with a Ravens-themed exterior and Louis Vuitton interior.
The Baltimore Ravens organization aided in the funeral proceedings, held in Florida, with several coaches and staff members joining Tray’s family and friends in his memory. Ravens head coach John Harbaugh stepped up to eulogize the young player: “We love you and we’re going to miss you.”
Walker was a fourth-round draft pick out of Texas Southern University. He was riding a dirt bike with no lights on, in all black, and without a helmet when he struck an SUV on March 17. He was pulled off life support at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami the next day.
Walker suffered serious head injuries and showed no signs of brain activity. It is believed he was riding with another now-unnamed NFL player at the time of the accident. It does not appear that drugs and alcohol were involved. Walker’s sister claims the vehicle ran a stop sign just before the accident. The driver was cooperative at the scene.
