A waitress who served former president George W. Bush and his wife Laura is receiving some serious backlash for a tweet she posted after accepting a generous tip from the two.
Leisa Smith seemed to have had a good time waiting on President Bush and his wife. He apparently left her a forty dollar tip for their $21.47 bill. The couple even posed for a picture with her afterwards.
However, Leisa is now getting slammed for what she tweeted afterwards. The waitress tweeted their picture together, accompanied by the caption, “bush did 911 but he did me a solid and left me a hella tip.”
Her comment is being called “stupid” and “insensitive” by Twitter users: “I hope you work there till you 70 lol. You ain’t ready yet for the real world! Haha #Stupid.”
“You gladly take his money, then dog him on social media? So disrespectful and uneducated. I hope you grow and learn. Good luck.”
After the tweet blew up, Leisa took to Twitter to explain that the tweet was a joking reference to the popular “Bush did 9/11” meme, and wasn’t intended for anyone but her friends–frequent users of the meme–to see.
