Yes, yes, we know. You’ve heard this before. But admit it, you don’t get tired of hearing it.
The entire world has been waiting on a solo album from Andre 3000, ever since he admitted during the creation of his Jimi Hendrix documentary that he wanted to get back in the studio and work on an album. We have no idea whether he’s done that, or whether Three Stacks even know where the keys to his studio are at this point, but we know one thing. There are only a handful of things more exciting than rumors that Andre is working on anything resembling a solo project. Which is why this selfie Chris Rock posted to his Twitter account is the bee’s knees.
Following a memorial service for Phife Dawg at the Apollo Theater in Harlem, NY earlier this week, Q-Tip apparently invited some of his close industry confidants to his house for what looked like drinks and storytelling (who wouldn’t kill to be a fly on that wall?). The photos were great, apparently taken by DJ D-Nice, and double-tapped thousands of times on Instagram, but then Chris Rock dropped a bit of a bombshell on Twitter that’s forced everyone to look at this interesting night in a whole new light.

Seriously? Two legendary comedians, a mega-famous rocker, one of the most heralded R&B singers ever–D’Angelo, who was there but isn’t pictured–an OG member of ATCQ, and a legendary DJ walk into Q-Tip’s house to work on Andre 3000’s album. Seriously? It sounds like a bar joke gone way too…right. We’ll have to wait and see if anything tangible comes of this secret album session–if anything at all–which is the recurring theme when it comes to Andre’s solo career. Waiting…just waiting.
