Memphis Grizzles star Zach Randolph was accused of beating and choking a woman in late March of 2016 in Los Angeles. A few weeks after the police report was filed, the woman has confessed to authorities that she fabricated the entire story in an attempt to shake down the NBA star for his money.
At the time of the report, which was filed on March 23rd, LAPD said that they saw visible injuries on the woman’s neck and back but soon became alarmed when the woman’s story changed. It is then that she admitted that there was an argument with Randolph but he never put his hands on her. She even went as far as to tell authorities “she was upset and decided to file a fabricated police report and ‘just wanted to get his money.”
When police asked her where her injuries came from, she told them that before entering the police precinct on March 23rd, she drove around the corner with a friend and had the friend inflict the injuries on her. The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office has dismissed the case.
