Stephen Curry won the regular season NBA MVP award, and this year he made a top 5 finish on the Most Improved Player ballot. Yes, you read that correctly. That means the best player in the league last season got that much better.

So, it’s no surprise that Curry will be named the 2015-2016 NBA regular season MVP this week; that news just broke via a report from ESPN’s Marc Stein. Curry, who is currently recovering from a sprained knee, was the commandeer of the Warriors’ record-breaking 73-win season, averaging 30.1 points, 5.4 rebounds and 6.7 assists per game. He broke his own single-season made three-pointer record, and did it with eye-popping style and bravado, sometimes tossing up prayers and dashing up-court before they dropped through the net. He’s that good, and that confident.

Once the selection goes official this week, Curry will join Michael Jordan, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Wilt Chamberlain, Bill Russell, Karl Malone, Tim Duncan, Bob Petit, LeBron James, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Moses Malone and Steve Nash as the crop of players that have won the award multiple times. What a list to be a part of.
