Kanye West and his former bodyguard have seemed to find themselves on opposite ends of a potential lawsuit.
In a recent interview, former NYPD cop Steve Stanulis speaks of West in a negative manner, with Page Six reporting he called the rapper a “spoiled superstar” who refused to press elevator buttons and wouldn’t allow staff to speak in his presence.
Such claims by Stanulis have driven West to react by threatening to sue him for $30 million. West claims his ex-bodyguard signed a confidentiality agreement before working with him and his wife, Kim Kardashian.
The former cop insists he never signed that document. “After I had finished working with them, and my first comments came out in the press, Kanye’s head of security wanted to meet me and asked me to sign a post-dated confidentiality agreement, and I refused. That would be like putting my head on the guillotine and pulling the lever.”
Considering their method of retaliation, the Wests obviously didn’t take well to those statements.
A rep for Kim and Kanye told Complex: “The West family will no longer tolerate the spreading and selling of fake stories in a desperate, transparent and shameless attempt for publicity at their expense. This sad, parasitic maniac has violated every basic human tenet of decency with his story of lies. As such, the Wests will explore all legal means at their disposal to silence this nonsense.”
In addition to the aforementioned claims, Stanulis also referred to West as a number of other characterizations including “self-absorbed” and a “control freak.”
This certainly isn’t the first time there have been accusations of difficulty working with the West family, but only time will tell whether these accusations in particular are true.
