On Friday [July 8] ScHoolboy Q released his latest album Blank Face LP, yet it was his interview with Letty Martinez of L.A. radio station Real 92.3 that showed a different side of the TDE artist. From the get go, Q explained, “It’s kind of hard for me to enjoy this moment,” telling the host it was “one of the worst days of my life.”
Shedding light on some recent difficulties he’s been facing in his personal life, Q admitted last year he wanted to quit making music, but building a home studio helped him realize that ultimately wasn’t what he wanted to do.
The very honest and emotional interview shows the rapper in a completely different light as he discusses the Black Hippy remix of “THat Part” and the controversy that developed after the New York City listening party for Blank Face LP, where he reportedly said “the label made me” include the Miguel collaboration “Overtime.” After his alleged comments were picked up by the media Q confessed, “these websites that’s supposed to represent Hip Hop are turning into TMZ.” Watch the interview below.
