According to a TMZ report from yesterday [Thursday, July 14] American Express just sued Lil Wayne for a debt he owes them from six months ago. Reportedly, Amex says the Young Money rapper owes them $86,396.75 from a bill that dates back to December 2015.
While $80,000 dollars certainly isn’t a lot of money to Lil Wayne, there appears to be a growing trend with Weezy not paying his bills. Back in 2014, Wayne was sued by a private jet company for the sum of $2 million for unpaid utility bills, and he was also sued by his former lawyer that year for unpaid legal fees.
As we all know, Lil Wayne himself has some pending legal action. He’s currently suing his own label Cash Money Records for the whopping sum of $51 million, which he believes Birdman cost him by delaying the release of Tha Carter V. Weezy also wants to be able to leave the label, and he wants to take Drake and Nicki Minaj with him.
Hopefully Wayne repays his debts soon so that he can focus on his 2016 Lil Weezyana Fest, which goes down August 27 in New Orleans, along with 2 Chainz and some other big name guests such as Drake and Master P.
