The wildfire that began on Friday, July 22 has burned over 22,000 acres. Hundreds of homes were evacuated and it looks like the fire isn’t letting up. The fire has claimed one life and firefighters are working vigorously to contain it as much as possible.
Over 300 firefighters were involved in the rescue efforts this weekend, but those efforts have grown to well over 1,000. Los Angeles County Fire Department have reported that 18 homes have been destroyed and damaged in the Bear Divide and Sand Canyon area.
The 26700 block of Iron Canyon Road was where a body was found, due to the fire. On Sunday during a press conference, the victim was confirmed dead by the fire-related spread. There have been three evacuation areas set up for both animals and people, helping the safety aspect of the area.
The containment of the fire has failed to reach over 10 percent, which is scary to think about. The fire has grown tremendously over the weekend. The high temperatures of 105 degrees on Saturday, did slim down a bit to a double-digit 97 degree day on Sunday.
