Kanye West and Drake have talked about a collaborative album for more than a few years now. It all just comes down to timing and actually putting the body of work together. During OVO Fest in Toronto on August 1, Ye hinted at a new album, but whose album?
During a Summer Sixteen tour stop, Drake announced to a Kansas City crowd that he will be dropping a new mixtape. With Ye coming out on the OVO stage and saying “Are Ya’ll Ready For This Album,” it makes you wonder what the two have placed up their sleeves.
Drake is still riding the heavy wave he caught from Views. Consecutive weeks sitting at the top spot of the Billboard charts, Drake has put in the work to get the spot he deserves. Kanye released his highly anticipated album The Life of Pablo back in February. The album debuted at number one on the Billboard and moved 94,000 units according to Nielsen Music.
During an interview with Beats 1 Radio, Drake spoke more in-depth about the collaboration with Kanye. “We have a few things that we’ve worked on. It’s all about finding a place for it. ‘Ye is one of my favorite people in the world … I hope we get some more music out. We were supposed to do a mixtape, album together,” Drake told Zane Lowe.
Will the two come together and an album? It’s highly likely, considering the comments that Drake made. If the two don’t come together and put together something? We can still look forward to a Drake mixtape and Cruel Winter from the GOOD Music camp.
