Idris Elba’s production company Green Door Pictures is working on a new drama set in The Republic of the Congo’s capital, Brazzaville.
Green Door will be teaming up with Tandem Productions and Save Ferris Entertainment for the gritty drama titled Brazza. “I am so proud to be working on this African-set drama and to introduce a global audience to a world and culture that resonates so vibrantly with me,” said Elba who recently portrayed an African tyrant in Netflix’s Beasts of No Nation.
“The one hour series will be sold internationally by Studiocanal and explores the culture and dangerous underworld of Brazzaville” Deadline reports. The script will be about a Congolese man living in Paris who is forced to return home after his father’s suspicious death. It will be written by Paul Viragh (Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll) and Michael Winterbottom (The Face of an Angel, Ashes).
While it’s too early for a release date, Studiocanal will be selling the show in Cannes next week at the MIPCOM television market.
