Pink and Christina Aguilera were not on the best of terms behind the scenes of the 2001 smash hit “Lady Marmalade”. The song was a cover of Kenny Nolan and Bob Crewe’s track, and also featured Lil Kim and Mya. The song appeared on the Moulin Rouge! soundtrack and rocked the top spot of the Billboard Hot 100 for weeks. Even if you play the song 16 years later, it still bumps. The track’s vibe was so good, that you couldn’t even tell the strain in Pink and Christina’s relationship.
The two singers had their fair share of public disagreements, but everything is all patched up now. Pink played a round of Plead the Fifth on Thursday’s Watch What Happens Live and of course her infamous feud with Christina was asked about. The “What About Us” singer confirmed that their beef did reach a peak when they were younger.
We were super young and super new at the whole thing, and I think I’m an alpha and she’s an alpha and I’m used to taking my altercations physical and she’s used to having them verbal. We just are very different, and we were very young and new. Women have to learn how to support each other. It’s not taught to us on the playground.
She was asked if things ever got physically, and laughed as she recalled one time Christina tried to punch her but everything is cool now.
Actually, she swung on me in a club, which is hilarious. I was like, ‘What’s happening right now?’ … “We’re fine [now]. She’s so talented. And deep down, I’ve had bad days too. She’s really a sweet person. We made up on The Voice.
