LeBron James has made numerous efforts to support the students and population of his home region of Northeast Ohio but refers to the opening of his I Promise School as “one of the greatest moments (if not the greatest) of my life.”

The LeBron James foundation has put efforts into Akron Public Schools system for nearly a decade and opened today (June 30) with students from the third and fourth grades with aims to expand in the near future. ESPN reports, The school is developed to have a longer school day and school year and will open with 40 staff members to will focus on acceleration of children who qualify to be a student due to their performance and socioeconomic factors.
LeBron James and his foundation are hoping to send more than 1,200 students through the program and off to college by the year 2029.
Sharing his excitement for the program on Twitter, LeBron detailed the opening of the new schools as “jitters.”
