Details regarding Ava DuVernay’s forthcoming Netflix series about the Central Park Five have been unfolding over the past month. The latest news update reveals the leading men for the limited series.

The forthcoming series will bring in Gotham‘s Chris Chalk as the adult version of Yusef Salaam, while newcomers Freddy Miyares will take on the role of Raymond Santana and Justin Cunningham will be Kevin Richardson, both adult versions. The trio will star in the series next to Jharrel Jerome and Jovan Adepo, the adult Antron McCray, as the adult men in the film.

Additional credits include Miss Virginia’s Ethan Herisse as the young version of Yusef Salaam, Marquis Rodriguez as the young version of Santana, Caleel Harris as the Young McCray and Asante Blackk taking on the Young Richardson.

The Central Park Five series will hit Netflix in 2019 but began filming in New York City this week. The series is about a true story of five teenagers of color who were wrongfully convicted of rape. The four-episode series will focus on the five Harlem teens, Antron McCray, Kevin Richardson, Yusef Salaam, Raymond Santana and Korey Wise, spanning from their 1989 questioning to their 2014 exoneration.
