After getting Hip-Hop fans in a frenzy with the official announcement of Tha Carter V this week, Lil Wayne adds even more excitement to the album’s release by revealing that merch launches will accompany the drop — 14 to be exact.
Each brand is tied to Weezy’s career up to this point, whether it be through music, style or his ties to the skate world. The first of his 14 collabs is alongside Heron Preston, who killed it this summer with a Carhartt WIP collab and also a capsule with NASA last month. This piece is very reminiscent of Kanye West’s “Saint Pablo Tour” merch, with the airbrush effect looking very similar to the Donda West and Rob Kardashian tribute tees. The release is also reminiscent to another rapper as well, as Travis Scott did a similar nine-day, 24-hour-only release pattern with his own ASTROWORLD album merch. Either way, it’ll be exciting to see what else (and who else for that matter) comes through for this highly-anticipated album launch.
