Ella Mai performed “Trip,” the tune that inspired the infectious Jacquees remix, on the Tonight Show Wednesday night.
The hit single is taken from Mai’s forthcoming self-titled debut album, out Friday by means of Interscope and DJ Mustard’s 10 Summers label. Catch Mai’s most recent live performance of the “Boo’d Up” follow-up in the video below:
“I don’t think she has a ceiling,” Mustard, who signed Mai to 10 Summers in 2016, told Billboard back in July. “I refer to her as ‘The GOAT,’ because people have yet to see what she can do and how talented she is. I think with me and her working closely together like we do and with her being signed to me, that’s like my prodigy.” Mustard also touted Mai’s focus, adding that he “can’t wait for the world to hear her album” to see what they’ve been cooking up over the past two years.
The 15-track collection features John Legend, H.E.R., and Chris Brown. Most of the creation, not surprisingly, was taken care of by Mustard himself with extra help from Lido, H*Money, Kosine, and that’s only the tip of the iceberg
As declared back in August, Mai is among the few artists offering help on Bruno Mars’ up and coming 24K Magic world visit. Boyz II Men, Ciara, and Charlie Wilson have likewise been tapped for the overall tour.
