Spike Lee is sporting custom kicks for the 91st Academy Award Show. The veteran filmmaker is looking to take home his first Oscar(s) tonight for Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay for BlacKkKlansman. The film is nominated for Best Picture as well.

Spike Lee called on  Michael Jordan and Tinker Hatfield to design custom gold Air Jordan 3s for the Oscar’s red carpet. Jordan and Lee teamed up for the 1991 “Must Be The Shoes” campaign, based on his character, Mars Blackmon, from his career-launching film, She’s Gotta Have It.

Michael Jordan was notorious for scorching the Knicks throughout his championship run, but Spike knew this campaign would be huge. Over two decades later, the friendship is still thorough.

Lee was also spotted paying on the Oscars red carpet paying homage to his 1989 film, Do The Right Thing. Congrats to Spike Lee on his nominations.
