Atlanta Hawks superstar Trae Young has been dazzling fans on the court all season long and is now assisting them off the court as well. The sharpshooting point guard is kicking off Atlanta resident’s decades in an enormous way by canceling out over $1 million in medical debt.
The 21-year-old potential All-Star connected with a local nonprofit called RIP Medical, which uses donations to buy large bundles of medical debt and forgive the debt with no tax consequences to the donors or recipients.
Young made a $10,000 donation, which translated to $1,059,186.39 in medical debut being erased. That amount results in 570 people being assisted by the donation.
“The City of Atlanta has welcomed me with open arms,” Young said to WSB-TV in ATL. “Giving back to this community is extremely important to me. I hope these families can find a bit of relief knowing that their bills have been taken care of as we enter the New Year.”
