Can Black People Get The Coronavirus? Your Black Doctor Says ‘Yes!’

Keep it real! You and your peoples have been poking your chest out lately thinking you are immune to COVID-19 aka coronavirus, right?

People with melanin have been hearing coronavirus stories from places people of color traditionally aren’t; this has created a false sense of immunity security.

However, according to Dr. Jen Caudle, a family physician, this just is not the case.

“I literally was in the beauty shop just yesterday,” said Caudle in a posted video. “I’m not even kidding and I overheard this woman talking to another woman and she said something like: ‘Did you hear? I heard black people can’t get coronavirus.’ She was literally having a conversation with another woman about this.

“Guys, I’m black. Many of you might be black. There is no evidence to say that black people cannot get coronavirus. This is a myth. Anyone can get coronavirus.”

Coronavirus Does Not Discriminate

Some of you are reaching for a bottle of hand sanitizer at this very moment and you should.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the virus reportedly started spreading in Wuhan, China. However, cases have been identified globally, including major urban centers within the United States. To date, there have been at least 959 confirmed cases and 28 deaths in the U.S.

Although, there hasn’t been a lot of reporting on who exactly is contracting it, the coronavirus does not discriminate. The entire country of Italy is on a virtual shutdown because of this virus.

As of yesterday, the New Rochelle suburban section right outside of New York City created a ‘containment zone’ around a cluster of coronavirus cases. New York Governor Andrew Cuomo plans to deploy the National Guard and create a 1-mile containment area to stop the spread of the disease there.

Schools are closed for more than 30,000 students in the Delaware Valley. American Airlines is slashing both international and domestic flights. Also, the University of Pennsylvania has banned all university-related travel.

In short, anybody can get this smoke so continue to wash your hands and remember just because you are magic, doesn’t mean you’re immune.
