Sir James Dyson to Make 15,000 Ventilators to Help Fight Coronavirus

British company Dyson has designed a new type of ventilator that will be used by medical officials to fight against the coronavirus. Since the news broke, the company has received an order of 10,000 ventilators to help treat patients fighting against the coronavirus.

The billionaire company’s founder, James Dyson released a letter to employees confirming the massive order. “A ventilator supports a patient who is no longer able to maintain their own airways, but sadly there is currently a significant shortage, both in the UK and other countries around the world,” he wrote.

The new invention by the company is called, “CoVent.” It was created just days after receiving a call from the UK Prime Minister, Boris Johnson. “This new device can be manufactured quickly, efficiently and at volume,” said Dyson. He believes that CoVent will “address the specific needs” of coronavirus patients. A representative of the company assured that the ventilators will be complete by early April. Dyson also added that he will be donating 5,000 CoVents internationally to help fight against the pandemic.

Health care officials around the world were finding items like ventilators, gloves, and mask to be scarce. “The core challenge was how to design and deliver a new, sophisticated medical product in volume and in an extremely short space of time,” he stated. “The race is now on to get it into production.”
