Kanye West announced his bid for President of the United States on Saturday. Kanye previously announced intentions to run for office and four months before Election Day Yeezy is ready to throw his hat in the ring.
Little Brother rapper Big Pooh is calling bulls**t on Kanye’s announcement, saying the rapper has ulterior motives behind the tweet. “I know an album rollout when I see one,” Pooh tweeted.
Kanye first announced that he wanted to run for president in 2015 but said he would wait until 2020 to start his campaign. Five months after his revelation, Ye released The Life of Pablo.
Kanye’s announcement comes just days after he struck a 10-year contract with Gap Inc. to sell Yeezy clothing in stores next year. One journalist pointed out the difficult road Kanye would face just to get on the ballots nationwide.
Kanye’s candidacy is being supported by Tesla CEO Elon Musk. West has been an outspoken supporter of President Trump, so it’s interesting to see that he would want to run against the man he said shares the same “dragon energy” as himself.
