1-800-NUMBER are the new trendsetters on the scene. Their focus? Creating waves on social media and the Internet by creating iconic and viral content. 1-800-NUMBER is a company responsible for transforming Tekashi 6ix9ine into a rat in the ‘GOOBA’ music video along with 25+ other iconic moments that have generated over 2 billion views on Youtube.
The creative direction, the whole concept behind the video, the production, and the amplification of the viral moment that was created were all thanks to 1-800-NUMBER. The video went on to break YouTube’s record for ‘biggest 24-hour debut for a hip-hop video,’ previously held by Eminem for his diss track ‘Killshot.’
Zane Comer, Co-founder and Executive Creative Director says that the name 1-800-NUMBER is “all about the redefinition of media and the ways in which people now interact with it.” According to him, the concept behind the name is inspired by the origins of interactive broadcast media.
Historically, the first 1-800 numbers were reserved for utilities people would call when they have a problem, such as plumbing problems, leaky roofs, etc. Later on, it became a number through which the audience could directly interact with broadcast media via ‘Buy Now’ ads on television.
1-800-NUMBER is the first Internet studio that combines rigorous strategic methodology with the experimentation of a creative workshop. This unique strategy allows 1-800-NUMBER to ensure their work is more than just ordinary content creation. The company’s approach is more akin to a tech start-up applying a highly iterative 5 step process that leverages data-driven insights and a multitude of “creative sprints” for any new projects.
“To be able to launch iconic moments on a regular basis, we decided to combine the Pixar concept of controlled chaos with data-driven rigor,” says Jesse Guglielmo EVP of Growth.
