According to several confirmed news reports, Nas has finally landed his very first Grammy Award for his 13th full length studio album King’s Disease, an entire 25-year snub since his Grammy nomination for “If I Ruled The World(Imagine That) in 1996 for Best Solo Rap Performance.
The Queensbridge king’s latest LP beat out D Smoke (Black Habits), Jay Electronica (A Written Testimony), Freddie Gibbs and the Alchemist (Alfredo), and Royce Da 5â9âł (The Allegory) for the coveted Golden Phonograph.
Now, Nastradamus has received Grammy nods since he collaboration with Lauryn Hill; He was nominated for Best Rap Album in 1999, 2007, 2008, and 2012 for I Am, Hip Hop Is Dead, Untitled, and Life Is Good, respectively. In 2012 he also scored nods for his song âDaughtersâ (Best Rap Song, Best Rap Performance) and âCherry Wineâ with Amy Winehouse (Best Rap/Sung Collaboration).
