Falling in love with music and having the talents to pursue a career only make up a part of a musician’s journey. The other part that people hardly pay attention to is having the right push and motivation to keep the musician going. Jay Scott, also known as Jayneto had all of these going for him at the start of his career until the rug suddenly got pulled out from under him, and he had to navigate his way in the industry all by himself.

Jayneto’s first exposure to music happened courtesy of his uncle Tony. He already had a natural love for music, but seeing his uncle play music on his keyboard solidified that love and sealed his desire to pursue a career in music. In his words, “It felt like I was walking on clouds. He taught me everything about reading music notes, how to write music and how to play instruments. Those formed the foundation for my music career and have helped me stay ahead since I started.”

Jayneto wrote his first song in 2010, but that same year, his uncle and great-grandmother passed away. He was only 12 at the time and their deaths threw him off balance. The following years saw him in a deep depression that cost him many of his friends and family members. His music was suffering, and it took the intervention of two friends, Princelightskin and W.B.K, to get him back on track. They’ve had his back since then.

He released his debut EP Alcatraz recently, and it had garnered about 600,000 streams in a little less than a month. Beyond creating music for himself, Jayneto has also written songs for other musicians and produced songs for them. He also has his sights on becoming an actor and model, and he already has some skills as a martial artist.

Jayneto hopes to connect with as many people by making music in multiple genres. His ability to read and write music like a pro is his strongest suit, and he never fails to use every opportunity to highlight that part of his abilities to the world. While he believes there is more than enough room to improve, he’s quite confident in being well-equipped in a department where many modern-day artists are lacking. “I have undergone several voice training sessions to keep my vocal strength in place which all stems from the passion I have for the art,” he said .

He’s all about connecting with people who recognize quality music and are ready to discover upcoming artists with a wide range of musical abilities. As an independent artist, he’s pushing the boundaries for himself in line with his uncle’s advice early in his career, when he told him to always do things his way if he believes it is the right way.

In the next five years, he sees himself touring the country and the world with his boys Princelightskin and W.B.K. He also has plans to establish a martial arts school and show the world that anything is possible for anyone regardless of their backgrounds or the challenges they’ve overcome on their journey.
