There’s a beast in the east and he goes by the name of Kingchampkennel. By far one of the most talented artists coming out of Inglewood, Kingchampkennel has been on everybody’s radar since dropping his incredible debut project iamkingchamp earlier this year. Kingchampkennel has taken influences from the music in his city and beyond to create something that is ready for the world stage; don’t be surprised when his name becomes recognized internationally.
One thing that should be made clear is that Kingchampkennel is not your average melodic rapper. Each track on iamkingchampkennel is a sample size of the type of energy he brings to each song, he naturally just rides the pocket and makes any beat sound like it was tailor-made for his talents. The title track “Dior bag” sets the tone for the rest of the project, a song that has Kingchampkennel fed up with the people in his circle and complemented with an incredibly smooth hook that is sure to get stuck in your head. It’s hard to say that any of these songs really stand out over others, as the Album is able to be put on repeat and keep listeners engaged with the quality of music from track to track.
