Bronx MC losLAUREN 718 is a former Source Magazine Unsigned Hype Champion. (October 2006, Issue 203, pg. 67). losLAUREN 718 has released his latest single “Smell the Folgers.” The music video is animated with a New York City backdrop. In the video, LAUREN narrates the story of an urban female and the struggles often faced growing up in an urban environment. When asked why he chose to put the record out as a single, LAUREN replied: “I just felt that the timing was right. I’m an Aries, a Spring baby. The beat just gave me those vibes. Cool, calm and chill. Not too hot, but not too cold.

This time I wanted to do something different and challenge myself. I don’t normally tell stories in third person because most of the songs I write pull from my real life experiences. Instead of making a club song with little to no substance, I chose to make a song that has a message. Something like Nas or Tupac may have made. These days the youth lack guidance. The song was a way to provide a glimmer of that. This song is directed to the young ladies out there. A message just stating take your time.
