A wise person once said that a bad attitude is the only thing stopping many from being great. The words you speak to yourself and the work you put in every day can make or break you, and that’s what often sets winners apart from losers. Contrary to what many often believe, you don’t have to have good connections to become someone in the world. It’s a matter of making your own luck, and Cadillac Shorty knows this better than anyone else in the rap game today. Cadillac’s work ethic is unparalleled, allowing him to beat the odds and climb to the top of the game.
Cadillac’s story started off like many others; he had a rough upbringing in the projects, struggled for survival, and ended up on the wrong side of the law multiple times. However, his passion for music never wavered, even when Cadillac found himself losing hope in other things. As a self-professed habitual hustler, he knew giving up was never an option, no matter what life threw his way. Cadillac’s self-drive and desire to break his own records have helped him reach great heights, sometimes greater than he ever imagined he could go.
The rapper’s first-ever music video was an instant hit, attracting over 5M views soon after its debut. That firmly thrust Cadillac into the limelight and made him a star in the hip-hop world. Cadillac dominated the hip-hop music charts for more than a week and opened more doors for himself. The music video won the best video of the year in Florida award, an admirable feat for the new rapper at the time. The recognition the award brought his way paved the way for invitations from multiple sectors of the industry. Cadillac performed at the 2nd annual Forgiato Fest alongside other rappers, including Currency, Stally, Ball Greezy, Brisco, and Briana Perry, to name a few.
In 2019, Cadillac released another hit single, “No Visits”, featuring fellow Miami rapper Billy Blue. Cadillac performed this song at Papa Keith’s People Matter Festival, an annual gathering promoting peace, love, and community engagement. The rapper has made impressive achievements since then, including radio interviews with the two biggest stations in Miami, 99Jamz and 103.5 The Beat. Cadillac attributes his meteoric rise in the industry to several things.
Consistency is the first one. “What makes me stand out like a sore thumb is not the typical ‘I’m living what I’m rapping’ bs,” Cadillac shares. “I really do live how I rap as well as make a living off my rap.” The rapper believes that life and death are in the power of the tongue, and he has seen it at work. Cadillac says he has manifested his lifestyle through his lyrics and always strives for more. As someone who has faced countless odds for most of his life, reaching and working for more blessings has always been at the top of Cadillac’s mind.
To achieve the level of success he has today, Cadillac has also had to outwork everyone he knows. From writing to performing different songs in different settings, the rapper has done everything he knows to do and more. “You gotta keep hustling,” he says. “This is a long-run hustle. It’s not for the weak or for a week.”
