Scottish Producer Louis Seivwright Gearing Up to Release Sophomore Album “Wonderland”

With each passing day, more people are looking for something different and refreshing when it comes to their musical experience, including musicians themselves. At the moment, there’s an increased demand for new artists to shake things up, especially those with something different to offer than what we’re used to hearing. Scottish producer Louis Seivwright is one such person. After making waves with his debut album in 2020, Louis has returned with genre-bending and exciting music. Ahead of its release later in the year, Louis released the title track as an introduction to what fans can expect from this project. The song describes a safe place that people subconsciously escape to when things get tough and comes in a new, experimental sound, unlike Louis’ debut style.

In describing the creative process that brought the new album to life, Louis states he was tired of repeatedly hearing the same type of music. As an artist, he decided to challenge his own creativity and put himself in a different headspace. “The idea behind the project was to create something completely different,” says Louis. “I pride myself in being multi-genre based. I feel like I’m never in a box of having to create one specific style.” Determined to stand out in a sea of artists doing similar things, Louis pushed himself further, and that’s how Wonderland was born.

Louis thought of the concept for the new album in December 2020, but the work didn’t begin until January 2021. According to the producer, the process of making the title song was very organic. Louis and his collaborator, Greenock singer AMA Jane, were in Glasgow for a video shoot when the idea was born. Fast-rising MC Chef, who also features in the track, was also in Glasgow at the time. After the shoots, the three decided to go to the studio. Louis was going through different beats, and that one just clicked with everyone immediately. “AMA had the hook down in about 10 minutes,” he says. “Ideas just kept flowing throughout the room, different concepts and ideas; the song was written in about 30 minutes.” Louis and his team recorded the song about a month later in Aberdeen.

Out of the 12–16 songs on this album, Louis chose “Wonderland” as the lead because he thought it felt right. This song has a contagious and catchy hook that allows everyone on the team to shine without giving away too much of the album’s overall sound. However, Louis hints that the other songs are just as good. “The overall sound of Wonderland is very atmospheric and emotion-based,” he says. “It’s up then down constantly, bringing the listener on an emotional journey.” Unlike Louis’s previous work, this album is more about connecting with the listeners without limiting them to a single genre or style. “I think people will be pleasantly surprised to see the growth and creativity seen in Wonderland,” Louis adds.Wonderland is currently in the final stages of production, and Louis is sure it will be out before the end of the year. Louis is also working on new music and has already finished working on a few singles while still working on other projects with the BBC on 3 TV shows and other work.
