Picture a sun-kissed kid from Honolulu, Hawaii, with a dream of making it big in the music industry. This is the story of 23-year-old Domanic Rincones, whose passion for rap music began at a tender age in elementary school. Since then, Rincones has recorded over five albums, with his music streaming in more than 20 countries worldwide.
The spark that ignited Rincones’ passion for music first revealed itself during a talent show in elementary school. From that point on, he rapped out loud to pass the time in classes that bored him. High school brought a pivotal moment when he purchased studio time and recorded his first songs. After a few sessions, Rincones realized the feasibility of investing in his own gear and began recording and engineering his music from the comfort of his bedroom. Released in 2016, these early tracks have since garnered thousands of plays.
As with many artists, Rincones’ journey took a brief hiatus. He formed a collective called PBS with friends Qasim Myers, Bilal Myers, Conrad Pfalzgraph, Payton Alesna, and Valentine Gijhon. Together, they spent the summer recording music and networking with people in the Seattle area. Following high school, Rincones pursued higher education at Cal Poly Pomona in 2018, where he continued to make music with friends on campus. After a year, he dropped out and returned home, unsure of his future.
Casting his net wide, Rincones eventually found himself working at a real estate company. However, the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic provided the opportunity for him to focus on his true passion—music. He joined forces with a group of like-minded musicians east of the water and formed another collective called The Lakestreet Boys. With this newfound support, Rincones wrote his most-played song, “I Do”, inspired by a phone call between his then-girlfriend and the entourage of a certain famous rapper.
Fast forward two years, and Rincones finally released his eponymous debut album, Domanic Rincones, engineered by the legendary David “The Rainman” Banta. From there, his career began to flourish. He has since performed at numerous local shows and has released and produced over five albums to date.
What sets Rincones apart from other artists in the industry is his unwavering conviction that the sound he creates has died, and it’s his mission to resurrect it. Filled with twists and turns, his journey through the music world has been one of self-discovery. He has not only honed his skills as a rapper but also learned the ins and outs of recording and engineering his music. Through his commitment to his craft, Rincones has brought his unique sound to life, captivating audiences worldwide.
Domanic Rincones’ journey serves as an inspiration to aspiring artists everywhere. His dedication to music, his perseverance through personal and professional challenges, and his ability to forge meaningful connections with fellow musicians have all contributed to his growing success. As he continues to produce and perform his innovative sound, there’s no doubt that Rincones will leave a lasting impact on the music industry. The resurrection of his sound is well underway, and we can’t wait to hear what comes next.
