Hill Harper Releases “Own Your Vote” to Inspire Voter Participation Ahead of Michigan Primaries

August 3, 2024
Shawn Grant

Hill Harper, a Democratic U.S. Senate candidate and renowned actor, has just released a new political anthem titled “Own Your Vote.” Produced by Detroit’s Helluva, known for his work with Megan Thee Stallion and Big Sean, this track aims to inspire non-voters and those disillusioned by the current political climate to participate in the upcoming Michigan Primary Election on August 6th.

“Own Your Vote” goes beyond being just a song; it serves as a motivational movement to encourage civic engagement. Harper’s lyrics tackle significant issues like affordable healthcare, homeownership, student debt, gun control, and mental health, aiming to remind listeners of their power in shaping their community’s and the nation’s future. In a time of decreasing voter turnout and rising apathy, Harper uses music to unify and mobilize people to vote.

Harper, with his strong commitment to public service, expressed, “As someone deeply committed to public service and the power of individual voices, I wanted to create something that speaks directly to those who feel disconnected or discouraged by the political system. This song is about reclaiming that power and understanding that every vote matters. Together, we can build a future in Michigan that reflects our shared values and aspirations.”

The release of “Own Your Vote” aligns with the crucial upcoming elections, offering an opportunity for change and progress. Harper’s Senate campaign is focused on fostering a more inclusive and equitable Michigan. Featuring his eight-year-old son Pierce, the song underscores his dedication to inspiring the next generation to participate in the democratic process.

Now available on all major streaming platforms, “Own Your Vote” invites everyone to join a movement aimed at boosting voter turnout. Harper encourages listeners to share the song and its message to motivate others to vote in the upcoming elections. He believes that together, Michiganders can make a significant impact and work towards a better future.

Listen to “Own Your Vote” on major streaming platforms and join the movement to inspire voter participation.
