Nike Unveils Air Max Dn8, Pushing Cushioning Innovation to the Next Level

Nike has introduced the Air Max Dn8, an evolution in sneaker innovation designed to deliver all-day comfort and fluid motion. By extending Nike’s Dynamic Air technology across the full length of the foot for the first time, the Air Max Dn8 offers a revolutionary new take on walking on Air.

Building on the success of the Air Max Dn, the Dn8 incorporates dual-pressured air units that adapt to movement, creating an unparalleled sensation of cushioning and propulsion. The sneaker’s two Air units and eight tubes maintain a sustained, pressurized flow from the heel to the forefoot, ensuring smooth transitions and optimal comfort. The rear Air unit contains two pressurized chambers with different levels of air pressure—higher pressure (15 psi) in the back tubes and lower pressure (5 psi) in the front—allowing air to flow dynamically with each step. The forefoot unit mirrors this setup, maximizing responsiveness and energy return.

“For the Dn8, we wanted to be lower to the ground. We wanted to feel more Air. We wanted to improve transition,” says Jonathan Kosenick, Lead Designer, Men’s Sportswear. “All of those goals led us to design the shoe with eight Air chambers directly in contact with the ground, which allows the chambers to more effectively compress and be way more flexible, delivering a much bouncier, springier sensation that channels a Nike performance footwear approach into a shoe you want to wear every day.”

“When designing the Dn8, we kept thinking about what makes some of our favorite classic Air Max models so great: that you can put them on and go, and no matter what happens over the course of the day, that shoe is not only going to succeed, it’s going to exceed expectations,” Kosenick says. “We wanted to build a shoe that had the same sort of, ‘go anywhere, do anything’ character — an impulsivity, a versatility that will perform under any circumstance by harnessing the capabilities of Dynamic Air.”

Beyond its groundbreaking cushioning, the Air Max Dn8 features a breathable upper designed for durability and style, embodying the fluid motion that defines its technology. The first release arrives in a Hyper Pink colorway on SNKRS and select retailers on February 6, followed by a global launch in red on March 6. Additional colorways for men, women, and kids will be introduced in the coming weeks. Nike invites athletes, sneaker enthusiasts, and culture leaders to experience the next evolution of Air.
