Killer Mike isn’t letting last year’s Grammy night fiasco slide and he’s officially filed a lawsuit over his arrest, pointing the finger directly at the private security teams hired for the event.
According to legal documents obtained by TMZ, Mike says he was stopped on his way to the red carpet for press and photos, despite having won multiple awards that night and holding all the proper credentials to access the secured area. Instead of letting him through, security allegedly flexed their power, leading to what Mike is calling an unlawful citizen’s arrest.
The Michael rapper claims security from S&S Labor Force Inc. and JRM Private Security physically restrained him in front of onlookers, causing him public humiliation and emotional distress. He says the ordeal didn’t just cost him his dignity—it also cost him a major moment, as he was supposed to present an award during the broadcast but ended up spending hours in a jail cell instead.
Mike was released later that night, and a couple of months later, prosecutors dropped any potential charges. But for him, the damage was already done. Now, he’s taking legal action against the security companies, claiming their reckless handling of the situation caused him unnecessary embarrassment, distress, and professional setbacks.
Killer Mike is no stranger to standing up for what’s right and this time, the fight is personal.
